A lubricant comprises lubricating oil, a small amount of pentachlorobutyric acid CCl3.CHCl.- CHCl.COOH and a small amount of 1: 3: 5- trithiane. The composition may also contain dibenzyl sulphide and one or more of methyl, ethyl, propyl and isopropyl stearates, palmitates and behenates.
