[Also in Group XXXV] A transducer for measuring and locating the unbalance in a rotor comprises a U-shaped permanent magnet 21 supported by leaf-springs 40, 41 and attached to a rod 6 to be vibrated by the unbalance of the rotor, whereby an E.M.F. is induced in each of two coils 15 wound on the centre limb of a fixed E-shaped core 10 interleaving with the magnet 21. One E.M.F. is rectified and fed to a voltmeter to indicate the magnitude of the unbalance, and the other E.M.F. is processed and fed to a stroboscopic lamp to illuminate the angular position of the unbalance.
