Abstract

939,523. Cooling dynamo electric machines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 2, 1962 [March 30, 1961], No. 11754/61. Class 35. A cooling arrangement for a dynamo electric machine comprises ducting 6 for the passage of a cooling fluid located in a space between the stator core 2 and outer casing 1, part of the outer surface of the ducting being forced into firm contact with the stator and the casing so as to be secured in position. A steel or copper nickel iron alloy duct 6 has its crosssection modified so that it can be easily inserted in space 5, Fig. 1. The ducting 6 is arranged as Fig. 2 and then the wall of the duct is forced outward, by fluid under pressure until it makes firm contact with the stator and the casing to secure it in position and for good heat transference. A cooling fluid such as water is passed through the duct via unions 7, 8. A second cooling fluid such as air may be cirulated within the casing by a suitable fan.
