Abstract

A composition used to coat paper to form a copying sheet, of the type to be used once only, comprises pigments and binding agents, wherein the binding agent constitutes a stable disperse system incorporating the pigment in its external phase. In the example, the external phase comprises montan wax, ozokerite, paraffin wax, mineral oil and carbon black, the internal phase ammonium stearate (as emulsifying agent) and polyethylene oxide. Ammonium carbonate may be used in place of ammonium stearate, in which case it partly saponifies the acids in the montan wax.
