896,796. Solid fuel. CHARBONNAGES DE FRANCE. May 20, 1959 [May 27, 1958], No. 17222/59. Class 50. Solid fuel is coated with an additive composed of a clinker-forming flux and/or a colourant dispersed in an aqueous hydrocarbon binder emulsion stabilized by a hydrophilic colloid. The additive may be applied to the fuel by spraying or dipping. Specified hydrophilic colloids are bentonite, sodium silicate and carboxymethyl cellulose. Coal is specified as a solid fuel. Specified hydrocarbon binders are bitumen and pitch and specified fluxes are Fe 2 O 3 and dolomite. Colourants referred to include phthalocyamine pigments, metallic powder such as aluminium and bronze powders, cyanine Lutetia CS and titanium white. Additionally, the additive may contain an emulsifying agent, e.g. the reaction product from ethylene oxide and an alkylphenol.
