Abstract

938,408. Filling bags. A. E. STALEY MANUFACTURING CO. April 4, 1962 [April 18, 1961], No. 12924/62. Class 94(1). A nozzle 16 for filling valve bags is surrounded by a sleeve 10 of frusto-conical form secured at its narrow end adjacent the delivery end 18 of the spout and formed with perforations 24 for allowing air to void from the bag. The wider end 25 of the sleeve is closed by a wall including, in the form illustrated, a rectangular exhaust conduit 27 which may lead to a dust collecting system. An air line 28 may serve to clean out the exhaust chamber 22. The shaped delivery end 20 of the spout is cut-away at 19. The spout may serve for filling bags other than valve bags, and may be fed from a hopper in which the material is fluidised by blowing in compressed air.
