Abstract
982,883. Bulk collection of milk. VAN RIETSCHOTEN & HOUWENS TECHNISHE MAATSCHAAPIJ PNEUMATIEK N.V. July 31, 1963, No. 30354/63. Heading A1M. Apparatus for delivering milk from a number of farms to a central receiving station 1 comprises a ring conduit 2 divided into sections 4 each bounded by two distributer valves 5 and connected to a delivery conduit 6 controlled by a valve 7, all the valves 5, 7 being connected to an operating circuit 3 controlled from the station 1. An operating valve 8 is arranged between the circuit 3 and each valve 7, the circuit 3 being in the form of a conduit for a pressure medium e.g, compressed air. With the valves arranged as shown in Fig. 2, the conduit 2 is evacuated and compressed air is then fed into circuit 3 as a result of which distributer valves 5 are closed. A plug of foam rubber is placed in the outlet of funnel 9 which is then filled with milk into which a second plug is thrown. The operating valve 8 is then set to admit air from circuit 3 to open valve 7 so that milk from the funnel 9 is drawn by the vacuum in conduit 2 into section 4 of the conduit, the milk being bounded at either end by the plugs. The valve 8 is then closed and the pressure in circuit 3 released so that valves 5 are opened. The contents of conduit 2 are then pumped out, the amount in each section 4 being separately collected, measured and sampled.
