Abstract

901,550. Filling tanker vehicles. VICKERSARMSTRONGS (ENGINEERS) Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 14, 1959], No. 16594/59. Class 78(1). Cement is fed from a bunker (not shown) to a tanker vehicle T via an extensible shoot 100. The shoot consists of a fixed hopper 1 having a tube 2 and an air outlet 25. On the inside of the hopper 1 and tube 2 is fitted cone 23 and centre tube 24; and on the outside thereof slides cylinder 5, which cylinder carries rollers 7 guided by bars 8 and is counterbalanced at 10. On the outside of cylinder 5 slides cylinder 6, which latter carries rollers 11 engaging with the cylinder 5. Cylinder 6 is counterbalanced at 17 and carries a flexible extension 18 which in turn carries nozzle 19. Nozzle 19 fits inlet I of vehicle T. Operation.-The nozzle 19 is clamped to vehicle inlet I. Air outlet 25 is connected to a gas treatment apparatus and to a fan. Material falls from the bunker down through tube 2 and displaced air is sucked from the vehicle T up through nozzle 19 and up through extension 18 and out at outlet 25.
