Abstract

936,509. Restricting thread balloons. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. March 14, 1961 [March 18, 1960], No. 9349/61. Class 120(2). In a textile double-twisting device having a casing for restricting the thread balloon, the air adjacent the balloon is urged in the direction of balloon travel and/or towards the outlet of the thread from the casing. To this end air currents provided by the driving belt and spindle, or by an externally driven propeller or, as shown by vanes 16 on the wharve, are caused to flow upwardly through the casing 15 and are guided by a helical rib 14 (or by grooves or vanes on the inside of the casing) to urge the balloon thread along its direction of motion and so diminish its tension. Alternatively, compressed air may be blown tangentially into the interior of the casing. The casing may be split into two parts to facilitate servicing.
