935,278. Sewing machines. G. M. PFAFF A.G. June 22,1962 [July 6, 1961], No. 24040/62. Class 112. In a sewing machine having a post 2 containing a vertical, looptaker-driving shaft 17, a work-trimming blade is operated by a hollow rock-shaft 22 journalled on shaft 17. The trimming blade 31 is adjustably fixed to the upper end of an arm 30, the lower end of which is pivoted on shaft 22. A crank-pin 29 on the latter engages a recess 28 in arm 30 to impart rocking movement thereto. A pin 41, pivoted in post 2, carries externally a handle 46 and is formed internally with an eccentric pin 43 engaged in a horizontal slot 44 in arm 30. Turning of handle 46 thereby serves to adjust the height of blade 31. The upper end of post 2 is closed by a hinged cover 35 having a horizontal surface 36 disposed beneath blade 31, and also a raised portion 38 open at one end to afford passage for blade 21 and under which the latter retracts in its inoperative position.
