A strap fastening comprises a pair of members 10, 11, one of which is formed with an aperture 14 into which that end of the other member 11 adapted to be connected to a strap 19 can be inserted, the first member 10 being provided with an inwardly-directed projection 15 on each of two opposite lateral sides of the aperture 14 to engage the adjacent lateral side of the other member 11 when the latter is assembled to the first member, the arrangement being such that in the assembled operative position of the two members, the second member 11 will be disposed so that its end to which the strap 19 is connected, enters the aperture 14 of the first member and engages one side of the inwardly-directed projection 15 whereas the strap 19 itself adjacent to its connection to the second member 11 will pass around the opposite side of the projection 15. The member 10 is provided with a permanent magnet 20 which co-operates with a keeper strip 23 on the member 11 to maintain the members in their operative position. In the arrangement according to Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the first member is provided with a further pair of projections which extend into the aperture opposite to the projections 15 and are arranged to engage adjacent parts of the second member when the members are assembled, to prevent pivoting movement between them. Alternatively, the first member is formed with a lip at its outer periphery at the end opposite to the strap attachment, for engagement by a hook-like portion on the second member.
