Abstract

1,029,083. Latches. CARR FASTENER. CO. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1964 [April 4, 1963], No. 13502/63. Heading E2A. A female latch element of resilient synthetic plastics comprises a body formed with a recess 9 for receiving the tongue of a male element the body having flanges 10 extending laterally and a resilient arm 11 extending longitudinally of two opposed sides of the body at an acute angle thereto, the free ends of the arms being directed towards the flanges, the latch element being mountable in an aperture in a door or door frame by inserting the body into the aperture to enable the resilient arms to snap therethrough, the flanges being adapted to abut one face of the door or door frame and the free ends of the arms being adapted to abut the opposite face thereof. The female component has a body 8 with an axially extending opening 9 for receiving the tongue of the male element and has resilient arms 11, 12 and flanges 10, 10a. The walls of the opening 9 are recessed at the outer side edges 13 to provide flexible body portions 14 and the inner faces have cam-like surfaces 15 for engaging in the groove 6 of the male element.
