Abstract

1317334 Housings for door latch handles ITW-ATECO GmbH 7 Aug 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 38258/70 Heading E2A A box-shaped housing open on one face and for surrounding an operating handle for the latch of a vehicle door and supporting the handle pivotally, is made of an elastically deformable plastics material and has on the face thereof opposite the open face an integral frame 5 extending along the two longitudinal sides 2, 3 and one narrow side 4 of the housing. The frame has external flanges 6 on the side 4 and external flanges 7, 8 in the neighbourhood of the free ends of the sides 2, 3, the flanges having grooves 9 aligned with one another and lying parallel to the front face, and the free ends of the sides 2, 3 having elastic tongues 11, 12 the overall width from the exterior of one tongue to the exterior of the other tongue increasing towards their free ends. As shown, installation of the housing is effected by providing in the door panel 27 an opening 13 complementary in shape to the frame 5 and including lugs 14, 15, the housing being longitudinally displaced in the opening with the side 4 leading so that the edges of the opening engage in the grooves 9 of the flanges and when, in the final position, the tongues 11, 12 abut the lugs 14, 15.
