Abstract

934,270. Vacuum ovens. K. V. SLEE. June 21, 1962 [March 22, 1961], No. 10493/61. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group XXII] The lining 1 of a vacuum oven has an outwardly-directed flange 3 at each end to form a seat for a door seal 23 and is formed from one or two metal sheets by welds only along a corner edge or edges. The flange 3 has a rearwardlydirected flange 4 at its outer edge and is connected to the outer casing 6 of the oven by a U-section member 7 carrying a metal strip 10 bolted to the flange 3. The double walls of the oven are filled with insulating material 12 and the oven is heated by electric elements embedded in the insulation 12. The ends of the oven are closed by door plates 24, resiliently mounted on outer door plates 28 to which the hinges are secured. Door liners 25 spaced from the plates 24 hold door sealing strips 23 between their edges and rearwardly directed flanges 27 on the outer door plates 28. Cooling tubes 14 are secured to the rear of the end flanges 3 and surround the door opening. The welds in the lining 1 extend to beyond the outer edge of the flange 3, and a gasket 11 is arranged between the flange 3 and the securing strip 10 of the end member 7.
