Abstract
934,201. Shaft furnaces. MANNESMANN A.G. June 16, 1961 [July 15, 1960], No. 21859/61. Class 51 (2). The wear plates of a shaft furnace are built up from blocks 18 supported on members 2 projecting through the furnace lining from the outer casing and supported by the casing 4. Each support 2 passes through a hole in the easing 4 to rest on a supporting flange 8. A shoulder 12 of the lower surface of the member 2 prevents its being disengaged from the lower flange 8 with expansion of the wall, and a stepped flange 14 carrying an angle-piece 16 engages the upper flange 8. The interior of the member 2 has a partition 32 extending a short distance outwardly, and cooling water inlets 22 extend on either side of the partition 32.
