864,674. Shaft furnaces. STRICO GESELLSCHAFT FUR METALLURGIE UND WARMETECHNIK. Nov. 15, 1957 [Jan. 29, 1957], No. 35677/57. Class 51 (2). The wind belt 1 of a shaft furnace 2 is divided into two sections, through which the blast introduced at 3 travels in opposite directions, by a vertical partition 5 coinciding with the centre lines of the tuyere connections 4, and by partitions 7 and 8 extending from the top edge of the partition 5 to opposite side walls of the wind belt. The partitons 7 and 8 slope upwardly from the inlet 3 to a point diametrically opposite. Vanes 6 are arranged near the inlet to help divert the blast.
