Abstract

933,031. Sewing needles. P. E. ARLIDGE. Dec. 14, 1959 [Dec. 19, 1958], No. 41055/58. Class 112. A sewing needle comprises two arms formed at one end with a thread-receiving loop and at the opposite end with a materialpiercing nose from which the arms are twisted together and diverge into a material spreader loop which leads into the end loop. As shown, the needle is made from a length of stainless steel wire bent upon itself as at 2, crossed upon itself as at 4 to form a small thread-receiving loop 3, and twisted together as at 6 to form a large materialspreading loop 5 communicating with loop 3, the free end of the twisted portion being soldered together as at 7 and sharpened or rounded to form a point 8.
