Abstract

883,115. Hypodermic needles. SCHOFIELD, H. P. April 5, 1960 [Jan. 6, 1959], No. 449/59. Class 81 (2). In a hypodermic needle the liquid outlet at the pointed end is in the form of a narrow slit, so that after the skin has been initially pierced it is merely stretched to admit the needle, without further cutting. The needle may be produced from a suitable hollow tube by flattening the end to produce one or more ears 16, 17 and then grinding these off to leave the pointed end 15 together with the outlet slit 21. The width of the slit may be determined by the extent to which grinding is continued.
