Abstract

607,933. Securing upholstery. BENMAX, S. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2649. Addition to 586,058. [Class 52(iv)] In the application of fabric or other upholstery material to a furniture frame by means of stamped-out teeth as described in the parent Specification the teeth are arranged or constructed so that two pieces of covering material are secured by the teeth when one piece is applied in a direction opposite to that of the other piece. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the teeth 13 are bent intermediately between the root and the tip so that one piece 14a of covering material is pierced and is drawn to the root of the teeth while the other piece 15 is pierced and is drawn to the bent portion 13b of the teeth after which the teeth are pressed into the plane of the frame member as shown in Fig. 5. In a modification a series of teeth formed as in the parent Specification are arranged so that some teeth 13<1> point in one direction while other teeth 13" point in the opposite direction. The inner covering material is pierced by all the teeth and held by some of the teeth such as 13<1> while the outer covering is pierced and held by the other teeth such as 13".
