730,994. Hypodermic needles. HUBER, R. L. Jan. 22, 1953, No. 1936/53. Class 81 (2). A hypodermic needle has a bend near its tip and the bevel extends across the bent portion from inside the bend. The heel at the back edge of the lumen, where it opens into the bevel, is relieved or rounded. In one form the needle 10 is bent, at 14, so that the point 12, formed by the bevel lies on the axis of the needle. The rear part of the orifice may be rounded off but, in order to allow a full diameter stylet 15 to be passed through the bore, the orifice is preferably cut back to provide a slot 17 so as to permit bending of the stylet. In this case the edges of the slot are rounded. In a modification shown in Fig. 6 (not shown) the angle through which the tip is bent is such that the surface of the bevel is parallel with the axis of the needle.
