Abstract
932,980. Generating combustion products under pressure; liquid fuel combustion chambers. L. BOLKOW, [trading as BOLKOWENTWICKLUNGEN KOMM.-GES.]. Aug. 28, 1961 [Aug. 27, 1960], No. 30966/61. Class 51(1). [Also in Group XXVI] In a liquid fuel fired combustion chamber 3 for a rocket motor or a gas turbine, cooling water is introduced with a swirling motion through a ring-shaped gap 7 and passes thence along the inside of the wall 6 of the combustion chamber. Liquid fuel is injected through a nozzle la into the chamber and oxygen or an oxygen carrier is introduced via a conduit 5 and bores 4a distributed over the end of the chamber. Water is introduced through the gap 7 between the end and side walls of the combustion chamber, guide blades 9 being obliquely mounted in the gap to impart a swirling motion to the water flow. As an alternative to the oblique guide blades a rotating blade wheel may be provided in front of or behind the gap 7.
