Abstract
931,401. Imitation fur. GREFRATH VELOUR G.m.b.H. July 8, 1959 [July 11, 1958], No. 23541/59. Drawings to Specification. Classes 42 (2) and 74 (2). In a fabric having a pile of thick shrinkresistant fibres and thin shrinkable fibres which has been differentially shrunk to simulate fur, the shrinkable fibres are either crimped beforehand or become crimped during shrinkage. The shrinkable fibres may be vinyl chloride polymer or copolyner, vinylidene chloride copolymer, or polythene; nylon, polyester or polyacrylonitrile, spun or treated to have high shrinkage, may also be used, for example polyacrylonitrile treated in a turbo-stapler. The fibres may be crimped by grooved rollers or, in the case of polyvinyl fibres, by high twist. Or the fibres may be given a latent crimp by buckling in a heated cylinder or by vibrating the spinneret. The pile fabric may be woven face-to-face, or woven singly with warp or weft pile, or may be knitted; it may be made by napping a flat knitted fabric. In an example, a face-to-face fabric has a base of cotton warp and weft and pile of a yarn of 3 denier polyvinyl chloride filaments crimped by grooved rollers plied with a yarn of 15 denier nylon 66 filaments; differential shrinkage of the pilers effected by immersion in boiling water.
