Abstract
931,257. Gas blast switches. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. June 23, 1961 [June 24, 1960], No. 22823/61. Addition to 930,731. Class 38 (5). A gas evolving arcing chamber as described in the parent Specification is modified to provide one rigid and one resilient wall so that the former can be used for contact mounting and for mounting the chamber. The rigid wall 1 may be thicker than the resilient wall 2 (Fig. 1) and the former may be secured to a support 7. The walls may be formed of the same basic material with different fillers (Fig. 2, not shown) or shaped fibre glass or steel inserts may be provided (Fig. 3, not shown). The rigid wall may be strengthened by a rigid backing (Fig. 4, not shown) or may have a hard paper insert 16 (Fig. 5). The movable arcing contact 26 within the chamber is coupled to a main movable bridging contact 23 by a linkage 27 and the chamber is provided with gas-evolving inserts 17, 18, a barrier 29 and a cooler 30.
