The pick has a shank 21 terminating in a substantially tetrahedral-shaped cutting head having one of the four triangular sides thereof common to the head and the shank and the remaining three sides converging to form a tip 23, two of the said sides defining together a front cutting-edge 24 which is arranged to extend from said tip 23 in a plane in which the pick is adapted to move during a cutting operation while with the third side, they define two side cutting-edges 25 which are symmetrically disposed with respect to and on opposite sides of the front cutting edge 24.
