Abstract

672,039. Cutting-tools. SWIFT LEVICK & SONS, Ltd., and SINTALOY PRODUCTS, Ltd. March 8, 1951 [Jan. 26, 1950], No. 2036/50. Class 83 (iii). A tool for lathes and other machine tools is provided with two powdered carbide or like " hard metal " tips secured in opposed positions at an end of the shank so that either tip may be brought into operative position by inversion of the shank in the tool-post &c. The tool shank 10 is provided with a right-hand turning tip 11 and an opposed tip 12 of corresponding hand. These tips may be of the same or different grades. The end of the shank may be split and cranked in opposite directions for the opposed tips. Both ends of the shank may be provided with cutting edges.
