Abstract
926,208. Rotary l.C. engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. July 20, 1961 [July 30, 1960], No. 26362/61. Class 110 (2). In a rotary internal combustion engine of the trochoidal casing type, inward radial movement of the sealing strips 5 located in the apices of the rotor is restricted by hydraulic damping means. In the embodiment shown, two rods 11 abut the underside of each sealing strip, each rod being fixed to a piston 10 slidably mounted in a cylinder. The cylinder is provided with openings 15, 16 for the escape of the hydraulic fluid and air, respectively. Oil is pumped into the cavities 8 and leaves by the passage 20, and serves as hydraulic fluid as well as coolant and lubricant. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), both pistons are in the same axially disposed cylinder, each piston being connected to a rod by a bellcrank.
