Abstract

925,893. Cycle chain adjusters. ATELIERS DE LA MOTOBECANE. Feb. 12, 1962 [March 13, 1961], No. 5311 /62.. Class 136 (3) [Also in Group XXIV]. A cycle has two chains, one, 6, on one side of the machine driven by a motor 2 and one, 7, on the other side driven by a pedal mechanism 8, the arm of the rear fork 11 on the same side as the chain 7 carrying, near the pedal mechanism, a bracket 21 in which there is a slot 22 to receive the axle of an extension roller or pinion 23 capable of being locked in the slot by a screw 24 at a position in which the pinion 23 acting from below upwards on the slack of the chain 7 provides the required tension in the chain. The pinion 23 is urged upwards by resilient means. The axle 13 of the rear wheel fits within vertical slots 15 in two plates 16 situated between two brackets 12 on which they can be adjusted horizontally by means of bolts 17 sliding in horizontal slots to mitre brackets. The bolts 17 are square shanked to mate with square holes in the plate 16, but alternatively the slots may be in the plate 16 and the squares in the brackets 12. The brackets 12 are recessed at 20 to allow a range of adjustment of the axle 13 whereby the chain 6 may be adjusted before final adjustment of the chain 7 as described above.
