Classes 79(2) and 79(3) [Also in Group XXIV] A drive from an engine 10, Figs. 1 and 2 of a scooter or motor-cycle comprises a V belt 18 driving a reduction gear housed in a casing 23 which is sprung relative to the vehicle frame 24 on which the engine 10 is mounted. In one example the casing 23 is attached through a rigid arm 14 to the frame 24 by a horizontal transverse pivot 15 and supported by springs and hydraulic dampers (not shown). The V belt 18 of a centrifugally operated expanding pulley type variable gear 16, 19 drives a shaft 21 in the casing 23 which drives the wheel 12 through a reduction gear 21, 22. In a modification the casing 14 may be slidably guided for vertical movement in the frame. The gear 22 may also be replaced by an internal ring gear.
