869,702. Motor vehicle driving gear. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE MECANIQUE ET CARROSSERIE AUTOMOBILE. Dec. 3, 1958 [Dec. 7, 1957], No. 38988/58. Class 79(2). [Also in Group XXXII] The differential gear 1 of a motor vehicle is movable vertically relative to the chassis frame 1 and is connected by a transverse leaf spring 11 to wheel carrying assemblies 13, 13. As shown, a ball 14 rigid with the differential housing 1 engages guides 15 rigid with the chassis frame 5. The wheel carrying members 13 are each rigid with a respective link 16 which is jointed at its inner end at 17 to the propeller shaft housing 2. A coil suspension spring 18 acts between the link 16 and one side of the chassis frame 5. The propeller shaft housing is ball jointed at 4 to the change speed gear-box 3. The latter is fixed to the chassis 5. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the ball and guide 14, 15, is replaced by a transverse link and the inner ends of the links 16, 16, are connected to the frame 5 instead of to the housing 2. Each drive shaft 7 is universally jointed at both ends instead of one end as shown. The pivotally connections 12 of each end of the leaf spring 11 as shown are replaced by vertical connecting links.
