[Also in Group XXXII] In an automotive vehicle, the motor and the casings of part of the intermediate transmission components between the motor and the drive wheels, e.g. the clutch and change speed gear, are rigidly interconnected with one another and are supported intermediate the ends of the casing structure at the centre of a transverse spring whose outer ends are connected to supports in which the drive wheels are journalled, means also being provided for restraining the structure against longitudinal and lateral displacement while permitting vertical displacement. A motor 1, clutch 2, differential gear 4 and transmission box 3 are connected together to form an integral unit supported by the leaf spring 5 connected at 6 to the wheel supports 7. At one end the structure is connected by a leaf spring 10 to a pivot 11 secured to the frame 9. At the other end a ball member 12 is slidable within a vertical slot 13 permitting vertical but not lateral or longitudinal movement. Links 14 are pivoted to the wheel supports 7 and to the frame 9 and are attached to coil springs 15 secured to brackets attached to the frame. Specification 899,276 is referred to.
