Abstract

Gaseous mixtures containing olefins and also hydrogen are treated to remove acetylenes and butadiene by passing over a palladium-silica catalyst containing less than 1% by weight of palladium at 150-300 DEG C and a space velocity of 150-500 litres (at N.T.P.) per litre of catalyst per hour; allene if present is also hydrogenated; mono-olefins are not affected.
