Abstract
A process for the dealcohilation of an aromatic-aromatic hydrocarbon, in which a hydrocarbon fraction containing said alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon, is subjected, in the presence of hydrogen, to dealcohilation at a temperature within the range of about 540º C to about 820º C. , and at a pressure within the limits of about 20 to about 68 atmospheres, and the desalinated hydrocarbon product is separated from the resulting reaction mixture, characterized in that the fraction containing aromatic alkyl hydrocarbon is subjected to the desalkohilation reaction in the presence of a sulfur compound in an amount equivalent to from 20 to 200 parts by weight of sulfur per 1,000,000 parts by weight of the aromatic alkyl hydrocarbon.
