Abstract

924,480. Concrete screen piling. ETUDES ET TRAVAUX DE FONDATIONS. Nov. 30, 1960, No. 41191/60. Class 68 (2). A continuous water-tight underground screen is constructed by hammering into the ground 7 juxtaposed elements 1-6 having tubes 9, extracting the element 1 while injecting screen material 12 (concrete or a mixture, e.g. of clay, cement and sand) from supply pipe 11 to fill the empty space being created by the withdrawal of the element, then successively attaching the supply pipe 11 to, and extracting, the elements 2-6. The pressure of the material ensures that the empty spaces formed by withdrawal of the element are filled as fast as they are formed (as at 12 in Fig. 2) and causes empty spaces near the screen to be filled, as at 12a. When the element 1 is completely withdrawn it is sunk in at 1a and the element 2 withdrawn.
