Abstract

923,536. Magnetic amplifiers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 16, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 2770/61. Class 40 (9). An auto-self-excited bridge rectifying transductor comprising main windings 5 and rectifiers 22-25 controls a relay 27 in accordance with the frequency of the energizing A.C. supply at terminals 20, 21 and the rate of change of such frequency. The transductor has a positive feed-back winding 4 to give a bi-stable operating characteristic, and is biased in the opposite sense by a constant current in a winding 2, the bias circuit including a bridge rectifier 7, a smoothing network 8-11 and a choke 6 which serves to maintain the bias current constant. A circuit 13, 14 tuned to the rated frequency provides the energizing current for an input winding 1, the input circuit including a bridge rectifier 16 and a smoothing network 17 and 18. A further input winding 3 is adjustably supplied from the same source over a differentiating capacitor 12. Both input windings 1, 3 act in the same positive sense, and are respectively energized by currents which are a function of frequency and the rate of change of such frequency.
