Abstract
847,869. Magnetic amplifiers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 17, 1959 [April 2, 1958], No. 10595/58. Class 40 (9). In a resetting type of magnetic amplifier in which a remanent core 1 has load and control windings 2, 3 respectively connected to alternating power and control sources 7, 11 by way of rectifiers 4, 8 and transformers 6, 9, the induced current in the control winding arising in the alternate half-cycle periods when current passes to a load 5 is suppressed by an opposing potential applied only during the conductive periods of the load winding. As shown, the opposing potential is derived from an alternating source 14 and is applied over a transformer 13 to a resistor 10 in the control circuit, a rectifier 12 determining the half-cycle periods during which the opposing potential is effective, In a modification the transformer 13 may be omitted, and the resistor 10 and associated rectifier 12 connected to the secondary winding of transformer 6.
