Abstract

849,657. Protective cut-out arrangements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 11, 1957 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 1279/56. Class 38 (5). A protective relay system comprises two transductors having their control-windings 20b energized by different control currents which are dependent on different electrical conditions and are both derived from the voltage and the current of a protected A.C. circuit, a relayoperating means 24 being operated only when both transductors are saturated. The main or operating windings 20a of the transductors may be energized from a separate source having a frequency appreciably greater than the main supply frequency, or directly from a current transformer, or from the current transformer 22 by means of a saturating current transformer or a transactor 23, as shown. The control currents may be derived from a directional unit and an impedance unit as shown, or from a mho unit and a reactance unit, Fig. 3 (not shown). Reference is also made to the use of a magnetic amplifier or a transistor amplifier as an input stage to the means 24.
