Abstract
866,531. Induction relays. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 23, 1957 [Oct. 24, 1956], No. 32386/56. Addition to 841,866. Class 38 (5). An induction-disc relay has an operating winding 24 which surrounds a two-part control winding 25 embracing a split core 15. The flux produced by the coil 24 follows the path shown in broken lines and that produced by the coil 25 circulates in the split part of the core as shown by the double arrow. The coil 25 is arranged so as to normally saturate the split part of the core so as to give the relay an impedance characteristic when the respective coils 24, 25 are connected to current and voltage transformers 13, 14. The relay may have its coils fed by current transformers in parallel feeders or at each end of the same feeder, or the operating coil 24 may be fed from the A.C. side, and the control coils 25 by the D.C. side, of a rectifier so as to provide differential current protection.
