Abstract

1,037,577. Protective systems. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [Aug. 30, 1963], No. 35409/64. Heading H2K. A bus-bar protective arrangement has a resistor 11, 12 or 13 connected to each current transformer 8, 9 or 10 to supply a potential to an input of an " AND " element 14, and a resistor 15 is connected in a summation circuit to all the current transformers to supply a potential to a further input of the " AND " element. Under normal conditions, the currents sum to zero so that no potential is applied to the input of the " AND " element connected to the resistor 15 and the " AND " element provides no output signal. In the event of a bus-bar fault, the currents no longer sum to zero and potentials are present at all the inputs to the " AND " element 14 which provides an output to energize a relay 16. The relay 16 closes contacts to produce tripping of circuit-breakers 5 ... 7. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates the arrangement applied to a duplicate bus-bar system and includes squarer circuits connected between the resistors and the " AND " elements, the operation of the squarer circuits and " AND " elements being controlled by overcurrent relays.
