Abstract
A pharmaceutical preparation for oral administration in unit dosage form, effective in the treatment of diseases caused by the protozoa family Trypanosomidae comprises 6-methoxy-8 - (6 - piperazino hexyl amino) - quinoline, or an acid addition salt thereof in admixture with a carrier therefor. Specified acid addition salts are the trihydrochloride oxalate and the dimaleate. The preparation may be a tablet, a capsule e.g. gelatin capsule or p a cachet. The tablets may be enteric coated by applying cellulose acetate phthalate dissolved in a mixture of ethyl acetate, ethanol and ethyl lactate. Specified carriers are lactose, starch and magnesium stearate. Specification 921,315 is referred to.
