Abstract

1350309 Arginine acetylsalicylate METABIO 29 Oct 1971 [26 Nov 1970] 50356/71 Heading C2C A novel salt of acetylsalicylate is formed by reacting acetylsalicylate with D, L or DL arginine. The reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature below 10‹ C. using acetylsalicylic acid in alcohol or ketone solution and arginine in aqueous solution. The salt has analgesic and antipyrelic properties and with a suitable carrier forms a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally or intravenously.
