1368251 Theophyllinyl-ethanoic acid ester SO CI BRE 23 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 39426/71 Heading C2C The novel compound I and its acid addition salts are prepared by reacting pyridine-3-methanol with a compound II or a functional derivative thereof and optionally forming a salt. Theophyllinyl-7-ethanoic acid is prepared by reacting theophylline with 2-chloro-propionio acid ethyl ester, followed by hydrolysis. Pharmaceutical compositions having cerebral vaso-dilator activity comprise a compound I together with a suitable excipient for oral administration.
