Abstract

922,331. Valves. BEHR-THOMSON DEHNSTOFFREGLER G.m.b.H. Dec. 8, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959], No. 42347/60. Class 135. A thermostatic valve controlling cooling water flow, e.g. in water-cooled engines, comprises a cooler by-pass valve 18 mounted on two arms 17 of a stirrup 171 secured to the underside of a cooler valve 11 connected to a thermal element 14 having a piston 16 adjustably secured to a stirrup 12 bridging the cooler valve and carried by the cooler valve seat 10. Stirrup 171 is pressed on to the lower side of valve 11 by spring 15 supported on a lower housing bridge 131 which also guides the downward movement of the thermal element housing 141. Valve 18 slides on arm 17 against spring 19 so that, with valve 18 closed, valve 11 may open still further.
