Abstract

921,760. Stripping cables. P. JOISCE. Nov. 13, 1961, No. 40456/61. Class 36. A tool for stripping sheathing from circular section cables, particularly mineral insulated cables, has an apertured body, or bodies b which is placed over the cable, and a cutting blade e, so inclined that rotation of the tool causes a helical cut to be made along the sheath, the apertures h being so positioned that on changing from one size of cable to another no adjustment of the cutting blade e is required. For use with small diameter cables the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 has a body b with several apertures. A positive-positioning of the apertures is obtained by means of a pin g which engages in small apertures i when the screw f is tightened. For larger diameter cables an interchangeable boss b (Fig. 2, not shown) has an eccentric aperture and is positioned by a screw f engaging in a dimple in the boss b. The cutting blade is preferably positioned in a machined slot or groove.
