Abstract

1323679 Shearing PYROTENAX Ltd 27 Oct 1970 [28 Oct 1969] 52753/69 Heading B3W [Also in Division H2] A tool for stripping a metal sheath from a cable has a cutter disc freely rotatably mounted adjacent an aperture in the tool body so that it cuts the sheath, helically or circumferentially depending on whether longitudinal movement of the tool along the sheath is allowed or not, when the tool is rotated about the cable. The aperture size may be varied using the screw 14, a block 20 may be reversed to present cable recess 22 or 23 to block 15 which has alternative mounting holes 24 for the cutter disc 17. The face of the block 15 is inclined at an angle of between 5 and 12 degrees to a plane normal to the axis of the aperture 12 and the disc faces forming the cutting edge make an angle of between 30 and 60 degrees.
