Abstract

1435231 Cable stripper WALTER ROSE KG 8 July 1974 [18 Jan 1974] 30089/74 Heading H2C A cable sheath cutter has a cutting blade 2 with a perpendicular flat plate 10 at its lower edge to lie between the sheath and inner cones of cable. The cutting blade is mounted at its other end on a supporting body 1 which is moved along the cable by a toothed segment 3 actuated by a handle 4. The spindle 5 round which the handle and segment rotate is held at each end in a polygonal bearing piece 7, the surfaces 8 of the polygon lie at different distances from the spindle so that selection of various surfaces to abut against a bearing surface 9 moves the teeth relative to the cutting blade to adapt to various sheath thicknesses. An attachment piece 17, Fig. 2, with a groove 19 may be placed around the supporting body 1, the groove serving to guide small diameter cables while being cut. A trailing bow 14 can be used to indicate the distance cut. If the handle 4 has a U-cross-section it can be held by the bow 14 to protect the cutter when not in use.
