Abstract
521,433. Cable stripping pliers. MAJOR, P. C. Nov. 19,1938, No. 33717. [Class 61 (ii)] A cable stripping tool comprises a number of blades 21 each connected by a pivot 22 to a ring 10 secured to a handle 12 and by a pin and slot 23, 24 to a face plate 25 connected by screws 26 to a ring secured to a second handle 13 normally held by a spring 15 away from the handle 12 such that when the cable end is entered in the opening 27 gripping of the handles causes the blades to be moved inwards and tangentially to effect a shearing cut on the cable insulation, the depth of such cut being limited to avoid damage to the metallic conductor by a cooperating stop 30 on one ring and an adjustable contact screw 31 on the other ring. To adapt the tool for cables of different sizes the ring 10 carrying the pivots 22 may be angularly adjusted by means of a cover plate secured by screws 39 to bosses 40 on a ring 36 integral with the handle 12, the cover plate having a headed stud 43 passing through a hole therein and through a slot 49 in the ring 10 whereby the latter may be clamped in different angular positions relative to the cover plate.
