Abstract

705,668. Stripping coaxial cables. BELLING & LEE, Ltd. Nov. 6, 1951 [Nov. 15, 1950], No. 27969/50. Class 36 A cable stripper comprises a body 10 having an opening to receive the end of a coaxial cable, a plurality of cutters to engage the cable, the cutters being spaced apart, and a stop 28 to limit the penetration of each cutter into the opening. Two cutters 23, 24 may be carried in holder 11 which is hinged at 21 to the body 10. The body may have a number of openings 12, 13, 14, of varying sizes and also has slots 17, 18 for the reception of the cutters, cutter 23 extending more deeply into slot 17 than blade 24 extends into slot 18. The stop 28 may comprise an adjustable screw in holder 11. After insertion of a coaxial'cable in the appropriate hole, the holder 11 is closed on to body 10, the cable being rotated in the stripper until screw 28 seats on body 10. The closed tool is pulled off the cable end, the cutter 23 engaging and removing the outer insulation, outer conductor and inner insulation between itself and the cable end and cutter 24 engaging and removing the outer insulation between the two blades, leaving the cable end with both conductors exposed as shown in Fig. 5.
