Abstract
921,297. Willison coupler lock arrangement. ENGLISH STEEL CORPORATION Ltd. Nov. 21, 1961 [Dec. 3, 1960], No. 41670/60 Class 103(5). A Willison coupler may have its sleeve guided sliding lock 5 retracted against the force of a spring 6 by moving either one of two bellcrank levers 21x, 21y, each of which is mounted to pivot about a vertical bolt 24 and engage an arm 20 with the end 19 of a slot 18 within the lock 5. The lock may be held in the withdrawn position by the engagement of a dog 28 on a spring pressed plunger 27 with an abutment portion 41 of the lock, and the plunger may be raised to release the lock by turning a lever arm 36 so that a cross pin 35 through the plunger rises up left portions 34 on a face cam 35 fixed to the top of the coupler. The bell-cranks and the lever arm 36 may be operated by a shunter's pole from the side of the track.
