A chase for a down-facing sheet material working forme comprises rectangular main and forme frames releasably securable together at parts overlapping in a plane parallel to the forme, and is provided in combination with the platen of a platen press having means for supporting the side members of the main frame to guide the chase in movement close to and parallel with the platen pressure surface into and out of operative position. The main frame 9, Figs. 1 and 3, includes side members 22 adapted to run on rollers 23 on the platen 18 for insertion into and withdrawal from operative position, while one end member is bevelled to engage a bevelled projection on the platen and the other has bevelled projections 25 to engage a bevelled edge of the platen, and handles 24. The forme frame 11 is secured to flanges 29 of the members 22 by screws 20, and comprises a backplate 12. The forme, comprising rules 15 and wooden spacers 16, some of which may be screwed to the plate 12, is secured by screws 17 to bars 21 of the main frame.
