Abstract
926,388. Trouser presses. J. E. P. DE DUBE. Oct. 28, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1958; June 9, 1959], No. 36586/59. Class 141. [Also in Group XIV] In a trouser press comprising a fixed back plate 10, a pivoted front plate 13, upper and lower clamping plates 19, 20 resiliently mounted on the fixed plate, and pivoted bent levers 16 on the sides of the fixed plate which allow the pivoted plate to be swung away from, or pressed against, the fixed plate, means are provided for locking the pivoted plate in an intermediate position with the lower clamping plate gripping the ends of the trouser legs. To lock the plate in an intermediate position, the levers 16 may have stepped portions 29 cooperating with rollers 30 provided on the edges of the pivoted plate. In a modification, Fig. 19, the plate is locked in the intermediate and forward positions 60, 62, respectively, by means of pins which project beyond its side edges and engage in depressions 59 in a spring 57 secured to the base of the press. A pedal also may be provided for pressing the lower clamping plate against the front plate. The pivoted plate may be concave towards the fixed plate and it may have a central longitudinal groove in its back face.
